Following the debates caused by the government's recent action to demolish illegal constructions in the protected area of Theth, Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke today about the situation and the criticism of the lack of early intervention by the authorities.

From Berat, where he was holding a meeting with representatives of the technology and innovation sector, the head of government stated that the institutional chain has not functioned and directly blamed the Shkodra prosecutor, Elsa Gjeli, for inaction.

"Those who should have been watching them did not do the right thing. A structure took the case to the Prosecutor's Office, but the prosecutor said there was no problem. This is why the construction was not stopped earlier. The prosecutor said there are no problems here," said Rama.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the construction of a functional administration like in EU countries has not yet been achieved and for this reason, the country needs to rely more on technology.

"There is a lot of noise about auditing agricultural funds in Albania, but even in some EU countries the problems are real because there is always the 'man in the middle'. Technology can be the solution," he continued, citing drones, satellites and the Geo-referencing Agency as tools that already exist, but the lack of an integrated information system continues to be an obstacle.

According to Rama, the country has the capacity to monitor construction in real time and avoid delayed interventions, but it is necessary to create an intelligent system that minimizes dependence on the human factor and possible abuses.
