The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, held a conversation with followers on social media this Thursday, where he answered several questions from his followers.

During the conversation, the leading Democrat was also asked about the Albanian government's decision to grant strategic investor status to a company linked to Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of US President-elect Donald Trump.

Berisha stressed that this decision is being used by Prime Minister Edi Rama to gain political influence. However, he was cautious, underlining that the Democratic Party does not oppose economic offers that are in accordance with the laws and regulations of the country.

" Since at least 2001, Sazani has been offered to foreign businessmen periodically. This is the next offer, which without a doubt Edi Rama made to buy political influence. But, an offer that meets the legal rules, we have stated that we do not oppose offers that are based on respecting the laws and rules of the country. Regardless, I emphasize once again, that Edi Rama has used it for political purposes, but this is up to the Albanians to make their own assessment of this use, " Berisha said.
