Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, today paid an official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he held bilateral meetings with senior representatives of state and regional institutions and participated in several activities.
Hasani was welcomed by his counterpart Elmedin Konakovic, with whom he underlined that the time has now come to deepen the political dialogue between our two countries and to expand economic cooperation in various areas of mutual interest. Minister Hasani wrote that “Albania remains deeply committed to a future where the countries of the Western Balkans are no longer divided by history, but united by hope, and where Tirana and Sarajevo continue to stand side by side for a peaceful, European and prosperous region”.
During this visit, the Albanian Embassy in Sarajevo was also inaugurated, reopening after nearly 10 years. “This is an important step in strengthening the partnership and friendship between Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Hasani emphasized.
At this inauguration, Hasani also met with our military personnel who serve with honor in the EUFOR Althea Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, to whom he expressed gratitude for their contribution to maintaining peace and security.
Minister Hasani also participated in the Sarajevo Business Forum 2025, as part of a panel focusing on the role of government policies in promoting business growth. In his speech, he highlighted some of the profound reforms that Albania has undertaken to boost economic growth in areas such as the rule of law, business climate, energy diversification, and digital governance.
Speaking about regional cooperation, he emphasized that this is no longer a choice, but a necessity to face challenges, attract appropriate investments, and secure a common European future.
During his stay in Sarajevo, Minister Hasani also held meetings with the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto, and with representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also visited the Memorial to the Children Killed during the Siege of Sarajevo (1992–1995).
