The Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia will hold a joint intergovernmental meeting on Monday. As part of the intergovernmental meeting, several memoranda and cooperation agreements will be signed. While from 2022 the tradition of Albania-Kosovo meetings remains suspended.

Since 2022, the Government of Kosovo and that of Albania have not held a joint meeting.

After the cancellation of the 2023 meeting by the Prime Minister of Albania, no date has yet been set for when the two governments will meet.

The Ambassador of Albania in Kosovo, Petrit Malaj, recently made a statement regarding these meetings.

He told him that for now there is no date when the Government of Kosovo and that of Albania can meet.

"Several topics have been raised that deserve attention to be addressed by the two governments, that is, some concerns or some important moments that require agreement, either with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of the Interior or the Ministry of Agriculture, and for all this, the ministers from Kosovo and from Albania have discussed, and all of them are under discussion and undoubtedly there will be a meeting of governments where agreements will be signed. It is not the case that we only signed agreements, but we implemented them. You know very well that the free movement of Albanians from both countries is an absolutely free movement that until nine months has no control from either side", said Ambassador Malay in a statement to the media.

Meanwhile, the Government of Kosovo is expected to hold a meeting with the Government of North Macedonia today.

According to the announcement, the intergovernmental meeting between the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia is scheduled to be held on Monday.

"We inform you that on 18.11.2024 in Pristina, the intergovernmental meeting between the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia will be held, with an official start at 10:50 a.m. according to the scheduled agenda. In the framework of the intergovernmental meeting, several memoranda and agreements for cooperation in several fields will be signed."

The tradition of meetings remains suspended

We recall that last year's meeting, which was planned to be held in June 2023, was canceled by Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The tradition of meetings between the two governments began in 2014, where the two governments met in Prizren, the city of the League of Prizren with the motto "The City of the League welcomes you". At that time, the Government in Kosovo was headed by Hashim Thaçi.

The next joint meeting was held on March 23, 2015 in Tirana with the theme "One land, one people, one dream". At that time, Isa Mustafa was in the Government.

In 2016, the meeting was returned to Pristina, and the prime minister was Isa Mustafa.

The year 2017 brought together the two Albanian governments, led by Edi Rama and Ramush Haradinaj, in the city of Korça.

In 2018, the meeting was held in Peja on November 26, and this year Ramush Haradinaj was in government as well. In 2020, the meeting of the two cabinets was held in Tirana by the Hoti Government and the Rama 2 Government. In 2021, the Kurti Government and the Rama Government met in Elbasan.
