Former Democratic MP, Ervin Salianji, through a post on social networks, reacted to the passing of former Prime Minister, Fatos Nano.

Salianji states that Fatos Nano created a modern left-wing party where he allowed competition and freedom of thought within it, and formed generations of politicians who continue to be active today.

"Fatos Nano, one of the most important personalities of the Albanian political transition, historical leader of the Socialist Party and one of the protagonists of pluralism after the '90s.

Although on different political wings, Fatos Nano represented a unique profile, liberal in thought, open to debate, with political culture and respect for differing opinions.

"He created a modern left-wing party, allowed competition and freedom of thought within it, and formed generations of politicians who continue to be active today. Condolences to his family, friends, and associates. May he be remembered," he wrote.
