The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, stayed in Tirana to discuss with the Albanian heads of state the latest developments in the negotiations between Kosovo and Serbia. A week after the Kosovo-Serbia agreement in Ohrid, the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, stayed in Tirana on Sunday (26.03.) to discuss the latest developments in the negotiations between Kosovo and Serbia with the heads of the Albanian state.

In the main political meetings, Kurti has found wide political support from official Tirana for the courage shown in the Ohrid Meeting and the agreement reached to take steps towards the normalization of relations with Serbia.

On Sunday morning, Kurti was received by the President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, and then by Speaker of Parliament Lindita Nikolla.

The President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, appreciated the results of the Ohrid meeting as one more guarantee for peace, stability and the future of the countries of the region in the European Union. He welcomed the leadership, prudence and courage shown by the Prime Minister of Kosovo and the negotiating team to accept the European plan and implement it.

The Office of the Presidency announced that regarding the Ohrid meeting held on March 18, 2023, President Begaj appreciated the public agreement and commitment of the parties to implement the European plan for the normalization of relations between the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia and the relevant annex. Begaj also expressed the belief that the appropriate mechanisms will be found so that the public agreement of Ohrid turns into a binding and applicable agreement for the parties internationally.

Kurti also held talks with Prime Minister Edi Rama on Sunday. After the meeting with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama wrote on Facebook that he expressed his sympathy to the Prime Minister of Kosovo for the courage and realism he has shown to take important steps.

"I encouraged the prime minister to take further steps, either for the guarantee of Serbian municipalities in the framework of the association that guarantees the self-management of the Serbian community, or for the operation with the necessary guarantees of the Serbian Church in its places of worship in Kosovo, ensuring that in this not easy process he has my full support", wrote Edi Rama. Prime Minister Albin Kurti also holds talks with the head of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta./DW
