Prime Minister Edi Rama was asked for the first time about the arrest of former president Ilir Meta on charges by SPAK.
The same question was asked to the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, during the joint press conference, and both refused to comment.
As Von der Leyen evaluated the progress of the justice reform in general, Rama said that he does not comment on judicial processes, except when they are final and on issues such as "defamation", referring to the imprisonment of MP Ervin Salianji.
Von Der Leyen: I do not comment on court proceedings, we cooperate with Albania, but this has nothing to do with cases. We see the progress and as we all see Albania has advanced, made important progress.
Edi Rama: You know the answer, I never make comments on domestic politics in the presence of foreign friends, but also due to the fact that since we started the reform in justice, neither I nor the political force that I lead, make comments . When it comes to cases that are closed, maybe it's worth a comment, especially when justice is done for cases like defamation. For the specific case, it is a matter that belongs only to justice.
