The ambassador of Greece in Tirana, Konstantina Kamitsi, has arrived at the Vlora police station after the court's decision on the arrest of the "Together We Win" candidate for Himara Municipality, Fredi Beleri, who is accused of buying and selling votes.

This visit of hers to Vlora comes after a meeting she held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she requested a meeting with the minister Olta Xhaçka, but only met one of the directors where she expressed the concerns of the official Athens regarding the arrest of Beler.

Recently, there has been a reaction on Twitter from Minister Xhaçka herself on this issue, where she says that they do not tolerate vote buying and that Fredi Beleri is equal before the law.

Vote buying is a serious offense in our legislation and our law enforcement agencies prioritize combating it during election time. This applies to all citizens of the Republic of Albania, including our Greek minority brothers and sisters who participate in our elections.

The candidacy of the Albanian citizen Fredis Beleris, who is running for election among his fellow citizens, does not require any special treatment. He is equal before the law like anyone else. It is up to prosecutors and judges to handle this case according to the evidence

We respectfully urge our friends in Athens to closely monitor the development of the case with patience, allowing the Albanian judiciary to do its work without external pressure or divisive messages. It is good to keep Brussels informed, but we must also wait for the facts to emerge.
