US Embassy warns of risk of Iranian attacks/ DP: Security Council to convene,
Parliament/American Embassy

The opposition has raised concerns in Parliament following the US embassy's statement about possible attacks by groups linked to Iran.

DP MP Tritan Shehu called on the President to convene the National Security Council.

In response, Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha stated that the situation in Albania is safe and there is no room for panic.

Hoxha said that they are in contact with all partners, including NATO.

Shehu: We cannot dismiss it lightly, as it was a government reaction. Today Rama must report to the Assembly, hear the questions of Albanian MPs regarding this issue, to clarify this [parliament, what is happening, what measures have been taken. I do not see any reaction from either the government or the presidency regarding the meeting of the National Security Council. I consider the announcement of the American embassy regarding the insecurity in Albanian territory serious. It was serious and indicates something important that we as MPs must take into consideration. The government cannot dismiss it by saying that it was a guess. 

Hoxha:  These are issues that the Foreign Ministry deals with in a special way, I assure you that we follow the statements of our partners very carefully, we are in touch with them here and in Washington, we are in contact with NATO. I want to say that the assessment we have today is that there is no reason to be alarmed. There was a communication yesterday from the Prime Minister's Office, we must abide by it and for anything new, the Foreign Ministry or other ministries will inform through the appropriate channels, of course being in contact with the Prime Minister and the President.
