A statement from Tommy Lee Jones' family has been released, days after the death of his daughter, Victoria Kafka Jones, at the age of 34.
The family, in a brief but tense statement, asked that their privacy be respected during this difficult time. “We greatly appreciate all the kind words, thoughts and prayers,” the statement said. “Please respect our privacy at this difficult time. Thank you.” The statement is signed “The Family of Victoria Kafka Jones.” News of her death broke on Thursday, when it was revealed that the 34-year-old was found unconscious in the early hours of New Year’s Eve on the 14th floor of the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco. Despite the efforts of passersby to provide her with cardiopulmonary resuscitation, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to initial information transmitted to authorities via a 911 call, there were indications that could point to an overdose, however, the exact cause of death remains unclear. The San Francisco Police Department reportedly found no drugs, traces of criminal activity or evidence indicating suicide, while the investigation is ongoing.
A hotel spokesperson also issued a statement, expressing the manager's deep sadness over the incident and extending condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased. As stated, the hotel is fully cooperating with authorities in the context of the investigation of the case.
Victoria Kafka Jones was the youngest child of Tommy Lee Jones and his ex-wife, Kimberly Cuffley. The two had their daughter in 1991, five years before the end of their 15-year marriage. In addition to her parents, she also leaves behind her brother, Austin, 43.
At a young age, Victoria had appeared in film productions, participating in films starring her father, as well as in a television series in the early 2000s. However, in recent years she had withdrawn from public attention.
Authorities continue to examine all aspects of the case, while the family has made it clear that they want to manage their grief away from the public eye.
