The first pregnancy has been achieved with the help of AI and robotics. The experimental result, which was carried out in the USA, at Columbia University, has been published in the scientific journal The Lancet.

The technique of technological collaboration was applied to a couple who had been trying to have a biological child for 19 years, but no technique or effort had yielded results to date.

The achievement is quite important, as it shows that there can be a positive result with the help of technology in those cases of male infertility, which is caused by a very low sperm count.

The combination of several technologies in the STAR method, Sperm Tracking and Recover, consists of several steps, where first an advanced analysis takes about 8 million images. Then, AI performs detailed analysis to identify male reproductive cells, and the final step is a microrobot, which is activated to pull them, so that they can be used to create an embryo.

In the case in question, technological collaboration with the couple who had been trying for 19 years, with the STAR system, found 2 sperm, and the embryo was successfully created, starting the pregnancy.

Clinical studies have also begun to evaluate efficacy in a larger number of patients.
