On the same day as the former Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, the well-known Italian actor and director, Francesco Nuti, also passed away.
He closed his eyes forever at the age of 68 this morning in Rome, as he had been ill for some time.
The sad news was announced by his daughter, Ginevra, together with family members who sincerely thank the health personnel and all those who have treated the actor during the long period of illness. The date and place of burial will be announced in the next few hours. Through a statement, the family requests that the moment of great pain be respected and therefore they do not intend to make any statement.
Francesco Nuti lived two lives: the first as an actor and film director, a performer of the kind of romantic and bitter comedy that had a great influence on later generations of comedians, who with his tenderness were a box office champion of the years '80; the second, now a sad victim of the crisis of his comic cinema, characterized by an ordeal of falls, accidents, and illnesses, since 2006.
Through a pronounced dialectal cadence and bringing to life the characters who play in an attempt to regain the dominant role within the couple, Nuti performed brilliant comedies with vaguely surreal tones that had a stunning success in the 80s thanks to films such as “Io, Chiara e lo Scuro", "Casablanca, Casablanca", "Tutta colpa del paradiso", "Stregati", "Caruso Pascoski di padre polacco", "Willy Signori e vengo da lontano", until "Donne con le gonne", film lucky that in the 1991/92 season it broke all box office records, marking the most successful moment in the career of Nuti who was the screenwriter, director and main actor of that film alongside the beautiful Carole Bouquet.
