He looks important, little known - like a long-lost uncle, or that old man who plays chess every day in the park.

It's the actor Bradley Cooper, under the layers of prosthetic makeup, like the old composer, musical theater legend Leonard Bernstein in "Maestro", a biographical film that is currently being shot for Netflix.

Netflix posted photos of Bradley Cooper on Twitter on Monday.

"He even has white hair on his arms! Such attention to detail! "Whoever is the make-up artist / hair person in that movie, should win some big prizes", was one of the comments.

Cooper, 47, also directs the film.

Alongside him plays Carey Mulligan as Bernstein's wife, Felicia Montealegre.

New publicity photos also show Cooper a younger Bernstein, sharing a smile with actress Mulligan's Montealegre.
