Singer Justin Bieber has revealed he suffers from partial facial paralysis after cancelling shows this week.
The 28-year-old said in an Instagram video that the condition is due to the diagnosis of Ramsay Hunt syndrome.
"As you can see, one eye does not bow. I can't smile on this side of my face... So there's complete paralysis on this side of my face," he said.
Ramsay Hunt syndrome is when an outbreak of herpes touches the nerve in the face near someone's ears, medical experts say.
Earlier this week, Justin Bieber announced the postponement of three concerts from the world tour, which began in February.
"It's from this virus that attacks the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis," the Canadian-born singer said in the three-minute video, showing the right side of his face.
He asked his fans to be patient and for his upcoming performances he said he is "physically unable to hold concerts at the moment".
He also smiled and pulsed his eyes, showing his 240 million followers how the right side of his face did not move.
"This is very serious, as you can see. I wish it wasn't, but, obviously, my body tells me I have to rest," he said. "I hope you understand. I will use this time only to rest and relax and return to a hundred percent so that I can do what I was born to do," the singer closed his message.
