What does the law say? How much can Jozi be punished for the criminal offense

The incident that occurred on the television show "Big Brother VIP Albania", where resident Jozi Marku slapped Gjesti during the live broadcast, could have serious legal consequences. According to the Albanian Criminal Code, this action constitutes a criminal offense and can be punished with imprisonment.

According to Article 90 of the Criminal Code, hitting another person, even if it does not result in serious physical consequences, is considered an act of intentional violence, and is punishable by a fine or imprisonment of up to 2 years.

The event, which occurred unexpectedly and publicly in front of thousands of viewers, heightens the moral and social sensitivity of the case. Although the fact that it occurred during a television broadcast does not automatically change the criminal classification, it may influence the assessment of the social dangerousness of the offense and the way the prosecution approaches the case.

Criminal proceedings for this offense usually begin with a report from the victim, except in cases where the prosecution decides to intervene itself, due to high public sensitivity - as may happen in this specific case, where the incident went viral and caused numerous reactions on social networks.

If it is proven through a medical report that the victim has suffered physical injuries, then the case may be classified as more serious and qualified under Articles 88 or 89 of the Criminal Code, where penalties are provided for more severe than 2 years of imprisonment.

We remind you that in this specific case, Gjesti was treated immediately after the incident and according to reports, his condition has stabilized. Meanwhile, Jozi was arrested by the police at the scene and it is expected that the justice system will follow legal procedures to fully clarify the case.
