Trump sends warships near Venezuela, Maduro pulls out 4.5 million troops

United States President Donald Trump has ordered the deployment of three warships to the coast of Venezuela to combat drug trafficking, a source familiar with the initiative said on Wednesday.

US media reported this move, according to which the president intends to deploy 4,000 Marines to the region to fight the cartels, some of which are considered a threat to US security.

The move comes at a time when the Trump administration is increasing pressure on Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro, doubling the reward for his arrest to $50 million.

But Maduro has considered this US move a threat and has therefore deployed 4.5 million troops throughout the country, emphasizing that "no empire will touch the sacred land of Venezuela."
