US President Donald Trump has called off a second wave of strikes on Venezuela due to the country's cooperation with the US. The announcement came in a post on Truth Social, in which Trump praised the actions of Venezuela's acting government.

It was the first time the US president has mentioned the possibility of another wave of attacks on the country and comes nearly a week after he ordered a military operation to oust former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, who is currently in US custody along with his wife Cilia Flores.

In his social media post, Trump said Venezuela was "releasing a large number of political prisoners as a sign of 'Seeking Peace,'" adding, "This is a very important and wise gesture."

Trump went on to say that the two countries are "working well together, especially in terms of rebuilding, in a much bigger, better and more modern form, their oil and gas infrastructure."
