The US and EU emissaries for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Gabriel Escobar and Miroslav Lajçak, are expected to visit Pristina and Belgrade today and tomorrow.
This visit of theirs comes at a time when the situation in the north of Kosovo is tense, since the Serbs are not accepting the Albanian mayors elected in the three municipalities in the north.
Escobar and Lajcak are expected to urge the parties to take steps to escalate the situation in the north.
The American envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, spoke to the BBC yesterday about the tensions in the north of Kosovo.
He said that the escalation of tensions in the north was avoidable.
Escobar has reiterated that the cycle of violence must be broken and that both sides, both Kosovo and Serbia, have a responsibility to act in that direction.
