Journalist Sigfrido Ranucci will no longer present the show Report.
Rai has entrusted the historical investigative program to journalists Giulia Presutti and Daniele Piervincenzi.
"Rai announces that, starting from the next season, the presenter of Report will be entrusted to Giulia Presutti and Daniele Piervincenzi, both winners of Rai's selection process for professional journalists. This choice marks a new phase for one of the most important programs in the in-depth public service offer, with two journalists selected as winners of the Rai competition to host the show, reflecting their professionalism and experience in the field," Rai wrote in a statement.
Sigfrido Ranucci's name is well-known in Albania after an explosive attack near his apartment, which was initially said to have been carried out by the Albanian mafia.
But subsequent investigations brought to light a completely different scenario, as it was revealed that the author of the bomb was his friend, entrepreneur Valter Lavitola.
Among the things uncovered by Italian investigators is the fact that, to remove any possible suspicion from himself, Lavitola had told the four principal perpetrators of the assassination (all arrested before him) to accuse Albanians. "If the police stop you, say that an Albanian paid you 3,000 euros to plant the bomb on Ranucci," he had told them.
Lavitola organized the assassination so that Ranucci could become a symbol and take the lead of the Italian left.
Ranucci is forced to step down from directing "Report" nine years after taking over from Milena Gabanelli.
