Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of legendary American president John Fitzgerald Kennedy, has announced his candidacy for a seat in the US House of Representatives, reviving the name of one of the most famous American political dynasties.
If elected in the 2026 midterm elections, he could follow in his grandfather's footsteps to the White House.
The 32-year-old, who lives in Manhattan, is the only son of Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of the president assassinated in Dallas in 1963.
With over 1.5 million followers on social media, he is seen as a young figure with charisma and style similar to that of his grandfather. Schlossberg will run for the seat being vacated by Democratic Congressman Jerry Nadler, after three decades in office.
"Our party can do a lot to address the cost of living crisis, corruption and attacks on constitutional principles," he told the New York Times.
Schlossberg graduated from Yale with a degree in history, holds master's degrees in business and law, and a doctorate from Harvard. He has worked as a journalist for Time, Vogue, the Washington Post, and Politico. During his studies, he also dabbled in humor, gaining popularity thanks to his irony and appearances on social media.
He has also appeared publicly at the Democratic Party conventions in 2020 and 2024, supporting Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. With his motto “Make America Healthy Again,” a play on Trump’s well-known slogan, Jack Schlossberg aims to breathe new life into American politics and, perhaps, return the Kennedy family to the pinnacle of American power.
