Search is underway for people under the rubble, where 15% of the world's coltan is produced

More than 227 people have died in a mine collapse in eastern Congo. The incident occurred at the Rubaya mines, which are controlled by a rebel group.

According to Reuters, the exact number of victims is still being verified, while many miners are suspected to still be trapped under the rubble.

Rubaya produces about 15% of the world's coltan, which is in high demand by manufacturers of mobile phones, computers, aerospace components and gas turbines.
