The Assembly of Kosovo is holding an extraordinary session today when discussing the situation in the north. Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that "the attack in the north was "pre-prepared" and that "a pretext was required for this".
As he made a brief summary since the holding of the extraordinary elections, the way they were decided to be held and the result, he finally stated that the Serbian List has abandoned the institutions in the north and the parliament. Author of the attacks in the north, Kurti makes Belgrade official.
"On Monday, May 29, a good part of the criminal gangs that were likely at Vucic's rally on May 26 returned organized to escalate the situation. The escalation of the situation was planned, well organized and had perpetrators. The author is official Belgrade. The raising of numerous concerns about the escalation of the situation led Serbia to set up criminal groups to escalate the situation," Kurti said.
According to Kurt, during all the links of the process there was consultation with the internationals. According to him, the last link was the visit of the elected mayors to the municipalities. And for the latter, he says that they belong to the Republic of Kosovo.
"There was not only consultation, but also coordination with international partners. It was a process with many links, and the last link was the chairman going to the workplace with a briefcase. The assets of public facilities belong to the Republic of Kosovo. Their use is regulated by law in the Assembly", said Kurti.
According to the Prime Minister of Kosovo, the Serbs had abandoned their offices when the Albanian presidents went there.
“They don't want the buildings, they're wishing that we don't want them either. I have been in trouble since when the mayor comes in, what will the Serbs who are in the administration do, but they had abandoned the buildings. Of course, the chairman enters there, but who else? Parallel structures don't like official buildings", said Kurti.
Regarding the protests, he said: "I am aware that not all those who are participating in the protests are part of such groups. Many Serbian citizens are forced to serve as human shields for such criminal attacks."
During the extraordinary plenary session, Kurti said that internationals cannot have the same approach to Kosovo and Serbia.
"For years, we have been told by our international partners and friends that the biggest threat to Kosovo is the high level of corruption and organized crime that hinders Kosovo's successes. We have proved that we are worthy partners of our international friends with the democratic and economic advancement of Kosovo. What unites our international partners are common values and the belief that these are universal and must be protected at all costs. My government strongly believes in lasting friendship with the US, EU countries and beyond. We are quintessentially transatlantic. The USA and the EU are with each other and with us, but the approach to Kosovo and Serbia cannot be the same. Serbia is an autocratic country, not a democratic country. Russia has Serbia as its regional center", said Kurti.
Kurti expressed regret for the attacks in the north against the police, KFOR and journalists. Also, he especially thanked the police forces, who, according to him, "protected the Constitution and the law".
"I feel the utmost regret for the attacks that happened and are happening against members of our police, KFOR soldiers and journalists. I express my gratitude to everyone, for their courage and sacrifice, and in particular to the members of our police who, in a dignified, patriotic and responsible manner, are protecting the constitution and the law in their independent state where they serve with dedication," Kurti said.
As for the protests, for Albin Kurti, they are directed by Belgrade.
"Protests come from below. These are not protests from below, these are protests from above. Which means that they are not protests. There is nothing authentic about those protests. They are not the will of the people. They are directives from Belgrade. I feel sorry for the Serbian citizens who are forced to go to these protests because I think that today they are the most unfree people in the Republic of Kosovo", said Kurti.
Speaking about the Serbian citizens living in the north, he emphasized that "they must be freed from this fascist militia and the Republic of Kosovo with its police and its bodies is doing this. Today, the liberation of Kosovo is not in question. Today, the liberation of the Serbian community from the fascist militia is in question. We must help the Serbs to free themselves from the fascist militia".
