French President Emmanuel Macron was momentarily blocked by police on the streets of New York City due to the passing of Donald Trump's motorcade, according to footage from Brut.
He had just announced the recognition of the State of Palestine when his car was stopped by police at an intersection, due to the road being closed to the escort of US President Donald Trump.
According to French media, the incident occurred amid tight security measures in the city, while both leaders were in New York.
According to Le Parisien, a police officer stops him from passing: "I'm very sorry, Mr. President, everything is blocked at the moment," the reason being the presence of a "caravan", certainly that of Donald Trump.
Macron gets out of the vehicle and, humorously, calls Trump directly, saying:
"How are you? I'm waiting on the street, I'm stuck in traffic because everything is closed because of you."

Recall that Macron announced France's recognition of the "State of Palestine" on Monday, from the UN podium, trying to increase pressure on Israel for "peace", a historic move that remains largely symbolic while US President Donald Trump is expected to speak on Tuesday.
