Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy announced today that his new book, titled " Diary of a Prisoner ," will be released on December 10 .

"In prison there is nothing to see and nothing to do. I forget the silence that does not exist in the Santé prison, where you hear a lot. Unfortunately, the noise is incessant. As in the desert, the inner life of man is strengthened inside the prison," Sarkozy wrote in a post on the X platform.

The former French head of state (2007–2012) was convicted on September 25 of participating in a criminal organization, after knowingly allowing his associates to ask Muammar Gaddafi's Libya to secretly finance his winning 2007 presidential campaign. He only spent three weeks in prison.

During the consideration of his request for release in early November, Sarkozy described his stay in Chante as "very harsh" and "exhausting".

He appeared in court via videoconference, describing the experience as a "nightmare", while paying special tribute to the prison staff, who, he said, "showed extraordinary humanity and made this nightmare bearable".

On November 10, a court in Paris ruled for his early release.
