Do you know how much gold there is in the world? Gold bars, ornaments and coins are the most common forms of gold that have already been mined and processed.

Gold is a metal that has always been valued by all civilizations and societies because of its beauty, value and ability to be processed into various objects or jewelry.

Both kings and ordinary citizens love him. It is used not only for the production of jewelry, but also in the banking sector, medicine, for the development of space technology and even in gastronomy.

Gold is a metal that can practically not be destroyed. This means that all the gold that has been mined so far exists in one form or another.

Gold extracted from the ground can be easily measured, but for unearthed gold there are only estimates.

If all the gold extracted so far were to be placed in one place in the shape of a cube, that cube would be 22 feet in size on each side.

What is interesting is that so far 201,296 tons of gold have been mined in all countries of the world, according to statistics from the World Gold Council.

What is very frightening is that despite the extracted gold, there is still some gold left to be discovered, respectively the underground reserves are not so large.

Thus, the analysis of the World Gold Council shows that the total underground reserves discovered amounts to 53,000 tons. Almost 20 percent of these reserves are in Australia, followed by Russia, the United States, Peru and South Africa. These five countries contain 49 percent of unexplored gold, while the remaining 27,100 tons (51 percent) are found in other parts of the world.

After 18 years there will be no more gold?

At the current extraction rate of about 3,000 tonnes a year, gold reserves will be depleted in 18 years. However, not everything is so black. Some companies are constantly discovering gold reserves in different parts of the world, which increases the amount of accrued reserves. At present, China, Australia, Russia, the US and Canada are currently the five largest producers of gold. These five countries produce about 1,400 tons of gold a year, which is almost half of the total annual production.

How is the Balkans?

Almost all Balkan countries have some gold reserves, but the data are scarce and mostly come from private companies planning or already extracting ores and minerals in the countries of the region.

According to the production, the leader is Serbia which produces about 900 kilograms of gold per year. Near Bor is found one of the richest locations with gold reserves in the region, with about 370 tons.

Although there is no accurate data, more analysis shows that there is a large amount of gold in Bosnia. In the central part of the country, near Bakovic, several tons of gold were previously mined in the now-closed mine. Otherwise, recent research shows that Bosnia has gold reserves worth about $ 1 billion.

It is estimated that Northern Macedonia has unexploited reserves of 79 tons of gold. Data for Kosovo say that there are about 12 tons, while in Albania about 4 tons of gold. There are insignificant gold reserves in Montenegro.
