The number of Albanians who have chosen to spend their holidays abroad has reached high levels. According to the Institute of Statistics, about 3.63 million departures from the border points in the territory of Albania were registered, 600 thousand more compared to the same period a year ago, where most of them flew at least more than once.
The tightening of products and services in the country has led Albanians to look for destinations that contain better tourist offers, favored by this and the devaluation of the Euro currency, which is being traded at very low levels against the local currency.
On the other hand, the latest data from the Bank of Albania, referring to the first 3 months of the year, show that Albanians have spent a total of 541.3 million euros on holidays abroad. (Chart 2) This is an increase of 86.75 million euros from the same period last year, highlighting an increased tendency for spending during international travel.
Despite the fact that the number of international tourists visiting Albania is higher, Albanians who spend their holidays abroad are making a contribution to the countries they choose to visit. The main destinations for Albanians remain Italy, Turkey and Greece.
