The government plans to issue a total of 68 billion new government bonds during the fourth quarter of 2024. Specifically, the highest issuance in the quarter is expected to be realized in October, with a value of 34 billion, while November and December will be issued respectively 20 billion and 14 billion ALL.
Most of the issues are long-term bonds. For the last quarter of the year, a total of 17 auctions are planned, where 7 auctions will be held in October, 6 in November and only 4 in December.
Additionally, 2 repurchase auctions are planned over the next month, but these are separate from the regular government bond issuance auctions. So, a total of 19 auctions will be realized, which capture a total value of 70 billion ALL, including the purchase auctions, in addition to those of new issues of bonds and treasury bonds.
Some bonds are being reissued, meaning that previously issued bonds are being sold again, rather than being issued entirely new. Reissuing bonds is a way for the government to raise additional funds without the administrative burden of new issues. This also makes these bonds more liquid, as additional supply can improve trading conditions in the secondary market.
By the end of September, the number of auctions of treasury bills and bonds is expected to reach 19 since June, providing a loan of 74.6 billion ALL in the domestic market. During this year, it is predicted that the public debt will be obtained to the greatest extent in the domestic market, in the form of treasury bills and bonds. Referring to the annual borrowing plan, this year's total emissions are expected to be around ALL 378.64 billion.
