On June 21, the new heads of universities will be elected across the country, most of whom are unopposed in the race.
The names that are recycled are almost the same, while some others unable to run have introduced their trustees into the scheme.
Thus, in the race for the University of Tirana, the current rector Artan Hoxha is running alone, unopposed. Consequently, he is expected to receive a second four-year term at the head of UT.
Hoxha himself, speaking to the media about the process, said that the absence of a rival in front of him does not mean less responsibility.
"I think it is the spirit of a good four-year for the University of Tirana, the trust that the structures have in the current trust and that they increase my responsibility more than they decrease me, being alone. One of our challenges is to maintain the level of students we have in terms of number and quality, because quality is guaranteed to us, that the best students come to our programs, but apart from that, to do this we need to increase the internationalization of the university, to increase programs in foreign languages, to increase joint study programs with other universities", said Hoxha.
Even in the other 6 Faculties of Tirana, only three of them were registered by two candidates.
Dean Dhori Kule, who has a long leadership career, is leaving the Faculty of Economics, but the legal changes in higher education do not allow re-election, so it is expected that Bernard Dosti will take his place, who currently holds the position of vice rector at UT . Dosti is seen as a trusted man of Kules, and in terms of management philosophy, few changes are expected.
Dorina Hoxha is seeking a second term at the Faculty of Law, as well as Esmeralda Kromidha at the Faculty of Foreign Languages. While in the Faculty of History and Philology, Mark Marku and Dhimitër Doka will compete for the dean's chair. In natural sciences and social sciences, the race is between men and women.
Candidates for dean in the Faculties of the University of Tirana:
-Faculty of Economics , Dhori Kule left the direction, Bernard Dosti was the only candidate.
- Faculty of Law - Dorina Hoxha, single candidate (currently head).
