The third instance of the judiciary rejected the appeal of former police officer Ludjan Zaimi, who requested the annulment of the decision issued by the Special Appeal on January 25, 2024.

He was found guilty of the criminal offense of "premeditated murder of a State Police officer."

Zaimi shot and killed his colleague Çaush Saliasi on May 23, 2022 inside the premises of police station number 3 in Tirana shortly before the two general patrol officers took their shift.

The incident occurred due to bullying and constant conflicts between officers. Zaimi was sentenced to 35 years in prison in the first instance for the criminal offense of "murder of state police officers", but the Appeals Court reclassified it as premeditated murder, reducing the sentence by 5 years.

The former officer disagreed with this decision and appealed to the Supreme Court.
