Gëzim Latja and Armando Tarushllari, the two people who were arrested three days ago by the police of Korça, after being suspected of being involved in the murder of a 25-year-old Albanian man in Athens in 2008, will continue to remain behind bars.
The Court of Korça decided this Friday the measure "arrest in prison" for the 41-year-old and the 52-year-old. The judicial process in charge of them will continue in Albania after the court decided to refuse their extradition to Greece.
They were arrested after a joint investigation between the Albanian and Greek authorities into the serious incident that ended with one victim after a conflict for weak motives. At that time, in the Greek capital, Arjan Xambazi from Pogradec was killed and another was injured.
Until three days ago, the Greek authorities were able to identify and arrest only one of the three suspected perpetrators of the incident.
"As a result of the investigations, the Korça Police, in cooperation with the Korça Prosecutor's Office, made it possible to identify and arrest the citizens: GL, 41 years old, resident of Elbasan and AT, 52 years old, resident of Tirana, for whom the Prosecutor's Office had issued warrants - detention for the criminal offense "Murder with intent", carried out in cooperation", it was said in the police announcement about their detention.
