A shocking statement came from British Minister Simon Murray, who claimed that 200 asylum-seeking children have disappeared, and that 176 of them are of Albanian origin. These figures are said to have been collected from July 2021.

The revelation comes after the Observer reported that a whistleblower from a Home Office hotel in Brighton had claimed that several children had been abducted on the street and put into cars.

The department was warned by police that asylum-seeking children who had recently arrived in the UK, many on small boats, without parents or guardians, would be easy targets for criminal networks.

The minister further said that he hopes that the authorities will give up the use of hotels to accommodate children who are unaccompanied and seek asylum.

NGOs have repeatedly raised concerns about children going missing from shelters and offered to help the Home Office keep them safe, but the government has rejected these offers.
