Today, the images from Corridor VIII, one of the strategic investments connected to the national road Elbasan-Qafë Thane, were published.
Prime Minister Rama announces through a post on his website that in Corridor VIII "work is being done in parallel on several lots to finalize this work"
Several lots have been opened for vehicle traffic, while along with the construction of the road, river protection has also been completed, as these lots stretch along the Shkumbin River. The road segment has been designed with the technical parameters of Category B, while the road access points for the residents of the area that lie along it have also been built.
Corridor VIII is one of the most expensive financial investments.
According to the revised document of Priority Policies 2025-2027, which was published in the Official Gazette in August, the bill for the construction of the Elbasan-Lekaj road axis is estimated to be 360 million euros.
This axis will significantly shorten the distance to connect with North Macedonia and is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
The finalization of the Corridor VIII project will bring many advantages to the economy of our country and will turn the new commercial port of Durrës into a very strategic point.
