The most recent decision of the government to increase the salaries of specialist doctors by 50 thousand new lek, has created division among the ranks of family doctors.

A part of them who have specialization degrees benefit from this salary increase. Almost half of the family doctors in our country, who have 10 to 30 years of work, but do not have specialization degrees, do not benefit from the salary increase, since at the time when they completed their studies in medicine, there were no specializations.

The Union of Health Service Employees requests the intervention of the health authorities, to intervene to solve this gap.

"Normally, a doctor who has this kind of experience has certainly managed to create in his baggage a good part of the knowledge that he needs even to exceed the years of a specialist. It is the duty of the institutions that will need economists or financiers to break down the decision, to show how this kind of division should be done, who should benefit from it, such as epidemiologists, just as it happens with family doctors". said the doctor Gent Stroni.

Stroni emphasizes that this increase in wages will be taken advantage of in May, but this decision should have been taken earlier so that some who have left Albania because of the wages could also have taken it.

"It is a decision that pleases all doctors who are specialists, but not only specialists. Perhaps if this decision had been made some time ago, it could have changed the lives of some people who are no longer in Albania. The decision has been made neither on April 1 nor on April 30, but during the May period, it will have to be reflected," said Stroni.

Family doctors request to reactivate a decision of the doctor's order of 2011 which recognized as specialization when a doctor had 10 years or more of work in order to benefit from it. Otherwise, they will protest./Tch
