As in the Vatican, the Way of the Cross procession was held for the first time in Tirana, which also marks Easter Good Friday.
Dozens of Catholic faithful gathered in Mother Teresa Square to follow the crucified body of Jesus Christ to experience the painful path of the ordeal of his suffering in the traditional 14 stations before he died on the cross.
The ceremony, which was held in Mother Teresa Square, was led by the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Diocese of Tirana-Durre, His Excellency Monsignor Arjan Dodaj, together with the ambassador of the Holy See of the Vatican in Albania, Lugi Bonazzi.
This procession is one of the important events of the Passover ceremony, which culminates in the celebrations that take place on Saturday evening.
Easter's Good Friday commemorates the dramatic events leading up to the death penalty and the crucifixion of Christ. It is also a day of penance, fasting and prayer, a day of participation in the Passion of Christ the Lord.
