Historic $6 billion energy deal signed, Ambassador Guilfoyle: Honored to be in

The US Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, has confirmed from Tirana the signing of an important agreement in the energy sector, during a visit where she also met with Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Through a public statement, Guilfoyle announced that she was honored to travel to Tirana to advance the US president's energy agenda and to participate in the signing ceremony of a "historic" agreement for liquefied natural gas (LNG).

According to her, the agreement was signed between Albania, the American company Venture Global and Aktor LNG, and foresees a 20-year cooperation for the supply of liquefied natural gas from the United States.

The diplomat emphasized that this is a commitment of about 6 billion dollars, which is expected to strengthen not only energy security, but also national security throughout the region.

"When the United States, Albania, and Greece cooperate, this region becomes more connected, safer, and more prosperous," she said, also appreciating the contribution of senior American officials to this process.

This agreement is considered an important strategic step for Albania and the region, at a time when diversifying energy sources and reducing dependence on uncertain markets remain key priorities.
