"We are shocked" - Parliament, a minute of silence for the Durrës accident

Today's session of the Albanian Parliament opened with a minute of silence for the two deceased children who lost their lives yesterday during a tragic accident that occurred in the Spitalla area of ??Durrës. 

During the opening speech, the chair of the session, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Klodiana Spahiu, said that the tragic accident has shocked everyone.

She further added that the loss of life at such a young age is a great pain, both for the family, but also for the members of the Assembly and society.

"Honorable deputies, the event in Durrës, where two children lost their lives, has shocked us all.

"I cannot express in words the pain of those two mothers who lost their children. May they rest in peace," said Spahiu.

We recall that a "Benz ML" vehicle driven by Nikoll Radaçi hit three minors yesterday, while a fourth miraculously escaped the accident.

Two children died immediately at the scene, while the third child was transported to the Trauma Hospital, where his life is now out of danger. It is suspected that the 57-year-old driver of the "Benz ML" car was drunk at the wheel.

President Bajram Begaj, Prime Minister Edi Rama, ministers, as well as MPs from both the majority and the opposition, reacted yesterday to the event.
