The tower "Mount Tirana" or in Albanian "Mountain of Tirana" has been put under investigation by SPAK, based on the last report that the journalist who covers justice issues, Klodiana Lala, made in TPZ a few days ago.
The gigantic project for the construction of the highest tower to be erected in Tirana will be investigated for money laundering and abuse of office for the officials who enabled the granting of the permit.
Other media reports connect the builders of the tower, officially they are the two businessmen Kujtim and Ilir Shtufi with the son of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Shkëlzen Berisha, accusations that have been denied by Berisha.
An episode that received attention in the media when the debate about the tower started (August 2023), was that the businessman Agim Zeqo was also present at the announcement of the winning project. Although he had nothing to do with the project, he stayed in the back rows even though he had nothing to do with this project until the permit was announced.
In several verifications that the VOICE made regarding the presence of Zeqo in this activity, it was discovered that the cooperation for the construction of the tower was going parallel with the legal actions. On October 1, 2022, Agim Zeqo accompanied the Nova Construksion group to get to know the winning decision.
3 days later, on October 4, 2022, Agim Zeqo and Nova Construction signed a notarial contract, where the company "Nova Construction 2012" sold 20% of the shares of its company, Nova Solar System, to businessman Agim Zeqo for 9 million ALL. This company, which only results in losses from the balances in the KKB, in June 2023 was licensed to start the production of electricity for 30 years in a photovoltaic plant in Marinas i Fier.

This information is accompanied by another finding by journalist Ola Xama in Kronos. The journalist stated that the infrastructure impact tax for Mali i Tirana was paid not by the Nova Construction company, but by the businessman Agim Zeqo, in the amount of 2.3 million euros, making even more unclear the financial source with which this tower is being built. or the reason why this charity was made.
"We have also dealt with the payment of taxes from projects that have started or are in the process. The Nova Construction company is associated with businessman Agim Zeqon. He has paid the infrastructure tax for the tower. It is not the Nova Construction company that is paying the tax, but 2.3 million was paid by Agim Zeqo. So the permit was given to the company and the infrastructure impact tax was paid by this businessman," said Xama.
The VOICE contacted Mr. Zeqo regarding his possible involvement in the construction of the "Mountain of Tirana", but until the publication of the article, there is no answer.
Mali i Tirana is the first tower to be investigated by Albanian justice for money laundering and abuse of office. This project, which destroyed the flower garden behind the Palace of Culture, was initially presented as being 185 meters high, while today, the final variant is 205 meters, with 58 floors and 7 floors of underground parking. / VOICE. him
