Albania's Chargé d'Affaires in Qatar, Ambassador Ermal Kaleci, in a live broadcast for Euronews Albania, said that during the recent attacks that Iran has carried out against Qatar, 16 citizens were injured, but there are no Albanians among them.
The ambassador also emphasized that around 200 Albanians live in Qatar, whom he called on to follow any announcements published by the embassy and not to leave their homes, except in urgent cases.
"Today is the third day of Iran's attacks on Qatar. Today too we woke up to alarm sirens, but currently the situation is calm and we tell all citizens who are in Qatar to remain calm."
There are about 200 Albanian citizens in Qatar. We have their data and we also know where they work. In this situation, we also have two families who have remained as tourists and currently have not been able to return to their country of origin. We are in constant contact with them.
Tomorrow at 09:00 we expect official information on whether the airspace will be opened.
According to the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there are about 8,000 citizens who are stranded at Qatari airports. They have been picked up by airlines and accommodated in hotels.
From the reports we have received, 16 citizens have been injured, but it is worth noting that no Albanian citizens have been injured.
"We call on all Albanian citizens to follow the instructions and follow our official Facebook page, where we have published any information that citizens should follow," the ambassador said.
