Molotov cocktail attack on Enver Hoxha's former villa

Opposition protesters have attacked the international art center ArtExplora Vila 31, also known as the villa of former dictator Enver Hoxha, with Molotov cocktails.

The Minister of Culture, Blendi Gonxhja, has reacted harshly, describing the attack as an act of terror against Albanian culture and civilization.

According to him, this is not simply oppositionism, but an open aggression against an institution that represents freedom of thought, art, and international creativity in the country.

"It is absolutely revolting to see how the political blindness of a desperate opposition stops at nothing, launching massive Molotov cocktails at a building where there are artists, people, life and creativity inside!" says Gonxha in a post on social media, alongside photos before and after this protest.

The minister emphasizes that during the incident, there were 12 artists inside the villa. Most of them were foreigners and part of ArtExplora's social programs and artistic residencies, but fortunately there were no consequences.

He warned that the state will prosecute those responsible and will not allow political violence to hinder Albania's European future.
