Azgan Mërnica, the author of the murder of the "Eagles" operative in Fier, surrendered on Wednesday evening.

The 23-year-old surrendered after negotiations between the police and the father of the author's uncle.

It is learned that the RENEA forces located Azgan Mërnica in an apartment in the village of Dërmenas and asked his family members to negotiate for his surrender, or he would be neutralized.

He was given a deadline to surrender or RENEA would intervene.

Meanwhile, the Fier Police gave details through a press release:

The RENEA Special Forces, the National Security Forces and the services of the Fier Local Police Directorate, under the direction of the General Director of the State Police, have continued operational actions in the field with the aim of apprehending the perpetrator of the murder of the police officer Novruz Cenalia.

Operational actions were extended to a very wide perimeter in the area where the event took place, using high-quality drones, which have monitored the area all the time. As part of the operational actions, checkpoints were set up on all road axes, services were strengthened at crossing points, on the green and blue borders.

Parallel to the operational actions in the field, the police have conducted negotiations with the author's family members to surrender.

Unable to leave, the family members surrendered to the police the perpetrator of the murder of the police officer, citizen Azgan Mernica, 23 years old, who is currently in the premises of the Fier Local Police Directorate.

The investigative group, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, is continuing the investigative and procedural actions with the suspected author, Azgan Mernica.
