The National Chamber of Advocacy has decided to boycott court proceedings for three days, in awareness of their colleague who was barbarically assaulted a week ago in Tirana, Sokol Mêngjesi.
Mayor Maks Haxhia in a statement to the media condemned the attack on the lawyer Mêngjesi.
"Dear colleagues, I want to inform you first about the state of health of our colleague. Yesterday he was taken by an ambulance plane to Greece to a specialized clinic in Greece. Upon arrival, I was informed that the health parameters are in the good health quotas.
Of course, the treatment will continue as it takes days for him to be ready to wake up from the artificial coma, due to the damage he has to the nervous system and mainly to the lesions, which are very dangerous in human life when he suffers trauma. such. Wishing him a speedy recovery, let him come to us as soon as possible, to have his own life, but also for his family, to minimize his and his family's stress", said Haxhia.
Haxhia also criticized the justice reform, saying that it has brought a series of problems for lawyers, including their stigmatization.
"The justice reform presented a number of problems. The reform is not what we wanted and expected to see, to realize indivisible justice, not discriminatory justice especially towards lawyers. I call on politics to give up the typification of lawyers as lawyers for criminals", he said.
