Democratic MP recounts life as an immigrant in Italy: I slept on the streets for

Democratic Party MP Saimir Korreshi, known for his jokes, has spoken about his life.

He said he has a passion for painting. "It was a passion, but I had a friend of mine, Bert Kozaja, who graduated from the Academy of Arts. I looked at him and said 'I want to start'. Then he taught me the technique and we made many paintings," Korreshi said in an interview on the show "Mes'dritë" on Vizion Plus.

When asked by the show's journalists about his opinion of other painters in politics, the MP, referring to Prime Minister Edi Rama, as "he usually does," did not spare any jokes: "You mean the painters in politics. A painter would paint a picture of real life in Albania, which they do not do. They are living in a completely different dimension, I'm talking about the Prime Minister. He has no idea what the situation is in Albania. The middle class is also leaving us because of the economic uncertainty that exists for tomorrow."

When further asked if he has anything in common with the prime minister besides politics and painting, he said: "I am strongly connected to the legal profession. There are no commonalities, I do not aim that high. I like those who are higher up more. I want to tease them more often. I do not claim to be prime minister. I claim to solve the problems and troubles of Lushnja."

Korreshi then touched on another part of his life, beyond jokes and politics. A period during which he completed his education in Italy, he faced hardships, one of which he shared was that he had to sleep on the street for 20 days.

"I was left on the street, but I didn't give up. I had two sports bags. I knew the Italian language well because I had been practicing it for years, but it was different there. Then I met a worker and he asked me because he was impressed by a young guy with two bags. There was an improvised place and so I pushed him. Later I remembered that my aunt's husband had a friend there and then the change began. Initially, I started selling at the stadium. Then I worked in a pizzeria on the weekends," he said.

Later, on March 11, 2018, he returned from Italy, and then met the love of his life, and he also showed that his life is now colorful because he has a wonderful family.

"March 11 was the last day... I was in Rome for a doctorate in 2017-2018 and I finally said I would return, I returned on March 11, two days before my birthday. I came because my life has changed. I have two wonderful children, a wonderful family. They gave color to my life," he said.
