"The Americans collaborated", how Anti-Terror followed the trail of
Julian Cumrraku and Erzen Uka

Journalist Eni Ferhati said that one of the people arrested the night before during the RENEA operation in Orosh was being kept under surveillance by Anti-Terrorism.

He indicated that the operation was extended in time and was carried out based on several intercepts that suggested that the apartment where the two arrested people, who are considered high-risk individuals, were staying, was some kind of base.

"It was a high-risk operation due to the past of the 2 arrested people. Initially, we thought it was a SPAK operation because there was an information leak, but we are dealing with a case where the Anti-Terror Directorate acted. We are dealing with people who are kept under constant surveillance as people at risk in terms of violent extremism and may commit criminal activities as people previously prosecuted by the authorities, several electronic conversations were intercepted by the anti-terror services who, after locating this abandoned apartment in Orosh, decided to intervene. The operation was extended in time, with previous illegal activity especially for citizen Erzen Uka. The weapons found in the apartment are powerful such as shotguns, grenades, etc., the ISIS flag was also found. The suspicions were that it was some kind of base", Ferhati said on the Now show on Euronews Albania.

Meanwhile, journalist Fatjon Gjinaj said that the investigations include a wider circle of people and not just the two main arrestees.

"According to some data, in this operation there was cooperation not only of Albanian but also American agencies. We should not be surprised that when these citizens appear before the court a few days later, there will be other responsible persons, it is a wider circle. This information comes within the structures of the investigation of the case. There was no moment of disconnection between the localization and keeping under surveillance of citizen Erzen Uka.

"It's enough to see the interior footage of the apartment that resembles the cases in the videos of Syria and Iraq, with a flag, bags filled with grenades and dangerous weapons," the journalist said.

The journalist stated that the main suspect, Erzen Uka, has been under constant monitoring by the investigation structures. According to Gjinaj, Uka has attempted to leave Albanian territory several times after being released from prison.

"Erzen Uka has been monitored at all times, from his movements to the contacts he had...

"He has attempted to leave the territory of Albania several times in recent years after being released from prison, one case I know of is that he attempted to leave for Greece, with the excuse that he would work in seasonal work and was not allowed precisely because he was under monitoring," stressed journalist Fatjon Gjinaj.

Meanwhile, Ervin Karamuço, a security expert, said the found base would be used for training.

"The anti-terror police, which has carried out a successful operation, it must be said, without casualties, is the end point of a process that takes place with the monitoring of this contingent. Initially, intelligence services are introduced and the US has increased surveillance in the Balkans. Not only in Albania, but also in Kosovo, North Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. There are cases of people repatriated after arriving from ISIS. Here we have another case, because there are some radicalized people, among them former members of the Armed Forces, certainly in pathological mental conditions, where they think about jihad. Information has been obtained that they were armed inside the house. The police have located them through several devices. It was not an ordinary house; one of them, in his mind, wanted to model a training camp. They wanted to increase the ranks and start missions," said Karamuço
