April 12th marks 30 years of Technical Control service for vehicles that are part of the road traffic of the Republic of Albania.
"Based on the history of the evolution of this sector with all the dynamics that have characterized it, being provided sometimes by the state and sometimes by concessionaires, we are proud that this service was once again entrusted to the General Directorate of Road Transport Services to restored the missing dignity.
December 31, 2020, marked the capitulation of 10 years of service, in deplorable conditions both in terms of physical infrastructure and service delivery. For years, roadworthiness testing turned into a nightmare for tens of thousands of drivers, due to long queues, where citizens had to spend up to 24 hours to carry out roadworthiness testing and wait in line. The fear of vehicle drivers from the possibility of not successfully passing the test vehicle, also produced a scheme of corruption at the checkpoints, which led to the enrichment of the fleet with dangerous vehicles for the lives of all road users as well as for air pollution. and the environment.
From May 31, 2021, all Technical Control Centers started operations, with a new service delivery concept. A new concept, characterized by facilities aimed at reducing costs for citizens as well as increasing coercive measures in the evaluation of the technical parameters of the vehicle in order to discipline the fleet of road vehicles for the protection of the environment and increasing road safety in Albania, receiving evaluations from TUV RHEINLAND for meeting the requirements of the EN ISO 9001: 2015 Standard, giving the green light to the certification. Committed to providing the highest quality service, the General Directorate of Road Transport Services continues its commitment to revolutionary changes, where for 3 years it has been engaged in the total reconstruction of all the premises of the Technical Control Centers,
On the 30th anniversary of this service, we celebrate together the achievements, to leave in the past all the dark history of this service, and to encourage its promotion not only as a necessary legal condition, but as a vital process for road safety", announces the General Directorate of Road Transport Services.
