Former Italian footballer Fabio Macelari has once again come under the scrutiny of Italian authorities due to his ongoing problems with narcotics.

This time, he should also serve prison time for such a problem.

The Court of Piacenza has sentenced him to 8 months in prison and a 1,800 euro fine, after finding him guilty of distributing narcotics, following an investigation launched in 2019.

The former defender had admitted for years that he had a drug addiction and was a cocaine user, but he had never admitted that he had also been a distributor.

The evidence showed that the former defender, who played for Cagliari, Inter, Lecce and Bologna, had acted as a distributor in the case of a third person, while he was found not guilty of two other similar charges.
