Who killed Ilir Zelka? Investigation: Went to Brazil to free 'Dritani', in prison for drug trafficking (Video)

Two years after the murder of Ilir Zelka inside a restaurant in one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Brazil: in Jardins, in São Paulo, there is still no perpetrator arrested.

Ilir Zelka was shot dead, in the middle of the day, inside the "Zurich" restaurant in December 2020. Investigative journalists of Brazilian TV R7 have dedicated a show to the mysterious murder of businessman Ilir Zelka.

Family members say they have no information on the investigation. The strongest evidence the police have so far is the motorbike used in the crime, abandoned by the killer himself. Meanwhile, an hour after the crime, the cameras filmed the author as he passed by on a motorcycle on the "Alameda Joaquim Eugenio de Lima" street. The vehicle is in the name of a man who lives in Curitiba. 

The investigation reveals that Zelka was in the company of a woman who seems to have played the role of translator during her stay in Brazil.

" From the investigations, Ilir Zelka had not arrived in Brazil for sex tourism, but he came with a concrete proposal to help an Albanian get out of prison ," says the journalist.

It is about an Albanian, named Dritan, who was arrested in Rio de Janeiro in 2017 for international drug trafficking. He was married to a Brazilian citizen. In the police documents, it is said that Aline, Dritan's wife, met with Ilir Zelka, who introduced himself as Dritan's uncle, and with the amount of 15 thousand euros they would hire a lawyer for the latter. 

Aline used to communicate with Dritan in prison via text messages. When Ilir Zelka was killed, she expressed her concern to Dritan. She was also caught talking to the Albanian. 

Two mobile phones were seized from Ilir Zelka. In one of these was installed the Skyecc application, which according to the police is an encrypted application widely used by drug trafficking organizations in Europe to hide conversations. On the other phone, photos of packages of cocaine and a place that looks like a harbor were found.

Also identified were messages with a person named Gordo, which were sent in the Albanian language on the morning of the murder. Ilir Zelka was executed two years ago in Sao Paulo while he was having breakfast at the "Zurich" Restaurant Bar.

The 47-year-old Albanian man was shot by a person approaching on a motorcycle and wearing a hat and glasses, while in one hand he also has a motorcycle helmet.

Zelka was rushed to the hospital, but could not survive the injuries. Brazilian police authorities have stated that they have started investigations but did not provide more details. Meanwhile, the family members do not believe that the murder is related to drug trafficking. " If it were like that, people would talk. We are a small country, " says a person on the phone to the Brazilian journalist, who seems to be Ilir Zelka's son.
